Under construction...

Hong Kong skyline and the Star Ferries during Chinese New Year fireworks

Introduction

This website is under construction. In the near future there will be many more pages of sample images of my work from around the world.

My name is Ilkka Kuusisto, I am a photographer and management consultant.   I was born and educated in Helsinki, Finland but for the past 15 years I have been living in Asia, most recently for ten years in Singapore. I am now based in Shanghai, China.

I am a member of the International Association of Panoramic Photographers (IAPP), a group of photographers who prefer their cameras big and landscapes wide. The title picture of Hongkong skyline will be exhibited at this year's Photokina in Germany together with many other beautiful panoramic photographs by IAPP members.

I have travelled around the world and visited every continent in search of the elusive image. While I consider myself primarily a landscape photographer, I try  to keep an open mind. In the end it is the image that matters. Panoramic format fits well with expansive landscapes, or indeed with tall buildings when turned on its side. One of my ongoing projects is to photograph all the tallest buildings in Asia in vertical panoramic format. The picture on the right is one example.

When I am not making photographs, I work for the pulp and paper industry. Paper was invented in China and China is the second largest producer and consumer of paper in the World, after the USA. It seems that in China everybody likes to read. Newspapers, books and magazines are a huge industry. Here are just two examples of different reading styles...
